Olympic silver medalist Jessica Fox was unable to better her feat in London on Friday, placing third in the final of the Women’s K1 canoe slalom and claiming the bronze medal.

Fox, 22, smashed through the slalom course at Whitewater Stadium in the Deodoro Olympic Park to sit in gold place initially.

Then a late review of one of her gates bumped up her time to 102.47, placing the World number one in silver position after New Zealand’s Luuka Jones.

Then – a nervous wait as five more paddlers raced.

Only the Spanish paddler Maialen Chourraut came through, with a beautiful run with a time of 98.65, to claim gold.
