Which Olympic athlete bares a striking resemblance to Leonardo DiCaprio?

Who is the flagbearer who tried to incite an angry response from Rory McIlroy by posting a photo of himself with the golfer’s ex-girlfriend, Caroline Wozniacki? And what did Mack Horton look like as a kid?

There’s news on that, one of the most inspiring Olympic Games stories and an Aussie team’s odd event preparation in day two of The Rio Report.

Is that DiCaprio?

Sports fans watching the archery were second-guessing themselves after an American – who looks incredibly similar to Leonardo DiCaprio – appeared on screen.

And while Brady Ellison’s effort in the men’s team event helped the United States to a silver medal, it was his appearance that most were focused on.

An eagle-eyed Twitter user posted this.

Ellison, a three-time Olympian, also won a silver at the 2012 Games.

His US team looked good to go one better in Rio after whitewashing China 6-0 in their semifinal, but South Korea proved too good in the decider.

From refugee to gold medallist?

Rio won’t be short of inspiring stories about athletes but none are likely to compare with Yusra Mardini.

The 18-year-old fled Syria as a refugee and swam through Turkey to reach the Greek island of Lesbos, also helping others who were unable to swim.

She is now one of the 10 Refugee Olympic Team representatives in Brazil and won her heat in the 100m butterfly on Sunday (AEST) – much to the delight of the crowd.

Unfortunately for Mardini, her time was not fast enough for her to qualify for the semi-finals, but by competing alone, she has left her mark on the Games.

“It was really amazing and an incredible feeling to compete here in the Olympics and I am happy and glad for that,” she said afterwards.

Congratulations, Yusra.

Australia’s gold medal winners ‘Get Low’

Phew.

That was surely the relief from the team at the Seven Network when Bronte Campbell honestly answered when quizzed on what Australia’s successful 4x100m freestyle relay team did to prepare for the race.

She said they were singing, and began ‘treating’ viewers to some of Lil Jon’s Get Low.

Her teammates got noticeably antsy and understandably so – it’s fair to say the rest of that song is not politically correct.

Campbell stopped in her tracks, though, revealing only that our girls have a questionable taste in music. And if they’re setting world records, we’re okay with that.

Two deaths and bullets fired

It wouldn’t be a day in Rio without some form of crime and security concerns were heightened when a stray bullet was shot into a media tent on Sunday (AEST).

Later in the day, it was confirmed by police that they had shot dead a mugger near the iconic Maracana Stadium, and that a woman was killed close to another Olympic site after being attacked by armed muggers.

If you’re squeamish, look away

We’ve all heard the saying ‘break a leg’ before an event for good luck.

Gymnast Samir Ait Said may have taken it literally though, with the Frenchman suffering a horrific double leg fracture. Watch on, if you dare.

A blast from the past

In the aftermath of Mack Horton’s superb men’s 400m freestyle win on Sunday, Twitter went into meltdown.

This was the absolute highlight, though: a young Horton meeting swimming legend and childhood hero Grant Hackett.

Did he really say that?

Irish flagbearer Paddy Barnes – who competes in boxing – has form for trying to wind up Rory McIlroy.

This was surely a step too far, though, as Barnes sent the golfing star a photo of him with his former fiancee, Caroline Wozniacki. The pair endured a messy break-up in 2014.

Vamos, Rafa!

Social media is flooded with great images of athletes meeting others, and we couldn’t help but share this cracker.

Aussie cyclist Stephanie Morton and her teammates were clearly delighted to take a snap with tennis star Rafael Nadal. Look at those ear-to-ear grins!

Millman’s slice of history

When Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic (remember them?) cracked the sads and decided they didn’t want to be involved in sport’s biggest event, John Millman gladly stepped up.

And he became the first man in Games history to win a match 6-0 6-0 in his thrashing of Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis. Kitty Chiller approves.
