A Moroccan boxer set to compete at the Olympic Games has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of two women, according to Rio de Janeiro police.
Hassan Saada, 22, was arrested on a temporary warrant on Friday (local time) after allegations he assaulted two Brazilian cleaners at the Athletes Village on Wednesday.
“According to investigations, on August 3 the athlete sexually assaulted two Brazilian room cleaners who were working in the athletes’ village,” a police statement read.
Mr Saada, who competes in the 81-kilogram category, is currently being held in preventative detention for two weeks on the request of police.

A local magistrate delayed the case for 15 days.
The Casablanca fighter, who was described by the International Boxing Association as “a newcomer to the international scene”, was due to fight Turkish boxer Nadir Mehmet Unal on Saturday.
Mr Saada’s attorney, Paulo Freitas Ribeiro, was working to get a release order so his client could contest the fight.
Mr Ribeiro said Mr Saada denied any wrongdoing in his official statement to police.
