Brazilian media has reported ubermodel Gisele Bundchen will host the opening ceremony at the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio.
Bundchen, a 35-year-old fashion world veteran, will treat viewers to her famous catwalk strut at the Maracana Stadium on August 6.

Local news site Extra reported the recently-retired catwalk model will walk through a “futuristic gateway” to mark the beginning of the Games.

• The shameful ads during sport that target kids
The theme of the production will reportedly be “the future”.
As one of the country’s biggest names, Bundchen was a logical choice for organisers. Luckily for them, the leggy brunette is apparently less fearful of the Zika virus than some of the world’s top golfers.
Representatives for the Games are yet to confirm the news, but this wouldn’t be the first time Bundchen participated in a massive Brazilian sporting event.
2014 World Cup
In 2014, a clearly emotional Bundchen took part in the World Cup closing ceremony.
Bundchen joined Spanish player Carles Puyol to unveil the ornate trophy that would soon be held by Germany after a 1-0 win against Argentina.

The model Instagrammed an image of herself with the trophy later, saying she was “so proud” to be part of the moment.
“It’s beautiful to see how sport has the power to bring the world together,” she wrote.
A Brazilian bombshell
Gisele Bundchen grew up as one of six sisters in southern Brazil and was famously scouted at a shopping mall in Sao Paulo while in high school.
Bundchen put Brazilian models on the map and in 1999, Vogue proclaimed her rise as the “Return of the Sexy Model”.
This came after years of the ‘heroin chic’ trend, led by a wafer thin Kate Moss.
She was a Victoria’s Secret Angel from 2000 to 2007, and also gained fame for dating serial modeliser Leonardo DiCaprio during that time.
After years as the world’s highest-paid model, Bundchen diversified into the retail world, starting her own shoe brand ‘Ipanema’, which has been hugely successful at home in Brazil.
The model is married to the equally attractive Tom Brady, a quarterback for the NFL’s New England Patriots.
The pair has two children together, plus another little boy from Brady’s previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.
