Tiger Woods has allegedly threatened to take a website to court after a “hacked photo” of him was released.

The golf superstar, who was won 14 major titles, has been caught up in the latest celebrity nude photo scandal – and he isn’t alone.

Woods’ ex-girlfriend, skiing champion Lindsey Vonn, was also targeted, while Hollywood stars Miley Cyrus and Kristen Stewart have also had nude selfies leaked, American website TMZ reports.

TMZ reported that the photo of Woods was taken from Vonn’s phone, which was hacked.

It appears likely Woods sent Vonn the photo while they were seeing each other.

A lawyer for Woods told the New York Post that the photo of the American, published on a website The New Daily has chosen not to name, is “a private hacked photo”.

Woods and Vonn announced they were in a relationship in March 2013, three years after the golfer split from ex-wife Elin Nordegren.

They were together for just over two years, with Vonn later revealing the media attention generated by Woods – which, if anything, only increased after his personal troubles – made things difficult for the pair.

Vonn, a Winter Olympics gold medallist and winner of four overall FIS World Cup titles, was regularly away from Woods due to her hectic schedule.

“Most of her summer is spent in South America, at training camps in Chile and Argentina, and then you’ve got her season, which is mostly in Europe,” he told TIME Magazine.

“And I can’t travel because I have the kids – my off weeks I’m devoted to my kids − and I have to be here.

“It’s a relationship that was fantastic, but it just can’t work on that level. It was doing an injustice to both of us.”

Woods, who has not played a golf event since February, was arrested in May for driving a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or other drugs.

Woods, who later announced he was battling prescription drug issues, had a cocktail of substances in his system when arrested, a toxicology report obtained by ESPN revealed last week.

Found in Woods’ system were hydrocodone (a generic form of painkiller branded as Vicodin), Hydromorphone (a strong painkiller known as Dilaudid), Zolpidem (a sleep drug known as Ambient), Delta-9 carboy THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) and a former of Xanax, a mood and sleep drug.
