Wanderers climb off the bottom

Western Sydney Wanderers have stolen all three points thanks to a stoppage time Nikita Rukavytsya goal, beating Melbourne City 3-2 in an action-packed clash.

In front of a home crowd at Parramatta Stadium, the Wanderers went behind early when Safuwan Baharudin scored, only for Mateo Poljak to level it up again before half-time.

City again took the lead when Aaron Mooy’s free kick somehow evaded Ante Covic, but a Tomi Juric penalty was followed by Rukavytsya’s winner.

The loss sees Melbourne City slide out of the top six, while the Wanderers have now leapt above Newcastle Jets into second-bottom on the A-League ladder.
