Germany has beaten France 1-0 in Rio de Janeiro to book a World Cup semi-finals spot.

A Toni Kroos free-kick was nodded home by defender Mats Hummels early in the first half in the only goal of the game at the Maracana.

Germany will meet the winner between Brazil and Colombia in a contest for a spot in the World Cup final.
