Leijer to miss month with facial injuries
Melbourne Victory defender Adrian Leijer is set to be sidelined for a month with facial injuries after being kicked in the face during the weekend’s 3-1 win over Central Coast.
Leijer was diagnosed on Tuesday with a fractured eye-socket, cheekbone and nose.
The 27-year-old had only been on the pitch for a few minutes against the Mariners on Saturday night when he sustained the injuries.
He came on as a stoppage time substitute for Scott Galloway in the Victory’s win, which pulled them level with the third-placed Mariners on 27 points.
Disappointing results from the scans. Thanks to everyone for the messages of support. See you in Geelong for the massive game this week!
