Victory’s Milligan to miss up to six weeks
Melbourne Victory captain Mark Milligan will miss up to six weeks of A-League action after minor knee surgery.
Milligan underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Tuesday morning according to the club.
“Following a recent recurrence of the injury, the club’s medical team decided it was best the surgery be undertaken as soon as possible to ensure Mark will be back on the pitch ahead of a busy end of season schedule,” the Victory said in a statement.
“Milligan is expected to miss between four and six weeks of football.”
The injury leaves the Victory very light on for players ahead of their clash with the Western Sydney Wanderers at AAMI Park on Tuesday night.
Melbourne are without a number of players due to injury, suspension and Australia’s Under-22 Asia Championship campaign.
Milligan missed the Victory’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle Jets on Friday night due to the injury with Leigh Broxham taking over the captaincy.
