Aussie cricketers delayed by bomb threats

Australia’s World Twenty20 squad has been delayed after bomb threats were made against five flights in India.

The plane carrying the 15-man squad from Delhi to Chandigarh was not one of the five Jet Airways services that received threats.

But their aircraft circled for almost half an hour while the plane used for Jet Airways flight No.2657 was being thoroughly searched at Chandigarh airport.

Team management and the players were shuffled off to the team hotel shortly after landing, with the majority unaware as to what had unfolded.

Indian media reports suggested the threats, which came on the same day Brussels airport was attacked, were a hoax.

“Jet Airways has received a security alert for five flights from Delhi. All flights are on ground and are being checked by security agencies at the respective airports,” Jet Airways said in a statement on Twitter.

“We regret the inconvenience caused.

“The safety and security of our guests and crew is always our main priority.”
