Smith top dog in Test batting rankings
Australian star Steve Smith’s wonderful 18 months of form have been rewarded, with the 26-year-old now ranked the world’s No.1 Test batsman.
Smith was man of the match in Australia’s second-Test win against the West Indies, scoring 199 and 54 not out.

That first-inning century was – astoundingly – Smith’s ninth in his past 17 Tests, including five tons in his past six matches.
He is the first Australian to inherit the mantle of the world’s No.1 Test batsman since skipper Michael Clarke, who achieved the feat in 2012.
Kumar Sangakkara, AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla and Angelo Mathews complete the top five.
The only other Australian in the top 10 is David Warner, at 10th.
Two Aussies are in the top 10 in the bowling rankings, with Ryan Harris at No.4 and Mitchell Johnson at sixth.
