Brownlow Medal 2017: the most memorable red carpet looks

Few could have predicted it, but this year’s Brownlow Medal red carpet may have been the tamest on record.
Typically a guaranteed blizzard of skin, sequins and bad style choices, this year’s event was remarkable for two reasons: the multitude of pregnant bellies on show and the surprising number of pink dresses.

Not a see-through top or lace-up boot in sight.
Bubblegum pink was the colour of the night, with three women arriving in very similar strapless, frothy gowns in the popular shade.
If the WAGs weren’t sporting pink, they were rocking another particularly common accessory: the burgeoning baby bump.
Blogger and Queen WAG in training Jessie Murphy (Mark Murphy’s wife) led the charge of mums-to-be in her daring backless Oglia Loro gown.
She was joined by Jarryd Roughead’s wife Sarah, Brendon Goddard’s wife Rosie, and Robbie Gray’s wife Annabel.
But by far the most contentious gown of the night belonged to Jordan Ablett – wife of Gold Coast Suns champion Gary Ablett – who is known for pushing the envelope each year.
Her structured nude J’Aton Couture gown earned comparisons to cardboard from some, while others named her best dressed of the night. Which was it?

Another standout – but for all the right reasons – was Charlotte Ennels, the striking girlfriend of Demon Jack Viney, who wore an elaborate black gown from One Day Bridal.
Joe Daniher’s date Adelle Boglis looked stunning in a unique teal Jason Grech gown, while Channel Seven host Rachael Finch also took a risk that paid off in her blush Pallas Couture gown.
It wasn’t just the WAGs dressing up – several members of the women’s league also brought their A game, most notably Melbourne’s Daisy Pearce, who looked elegant in red Georgia Young Couture, and Moana Hope, who looked sharp alongside her girlfriend, model Isabella Carlstrom.
And then there were the risk takers, like Jack Ziebell’s partner Linda Weatherlake, with her cutout gown, or Danielle Orlando (Luke Shuey’s partner) with her sheer skirt.
And finally, two women decided to go for the power shoulder with mixed results.
Both Bel Sloane, Seven presenter and wife of Rory Sloane, and Ruby Keddie, partner of Callan Ward, opted for eye-catching Cappellazzo Couture gowns that featured high drama around the neckline.
We’ll let you decide whether they pulled it off or not.
