Demons shock Cats to wreck Enright’s party
The improving Melbourne Demons have claimed a deserved 24-point AFL win over 10th-placed Geelong at Kardinia Park.
Corey Enright’s 300th AFL game was not enough to inspire the Cats as the Dees secured their fourth win of the season, winning 18.5 (113) to 13.11 (89) on Sunday night.

In the process, the win saw the Demons break a 10-match losing streak against Geelong.
Melbourne led from quarter-time after kicking five goals in the first period, before Geelong drew closed the gap after kicking three-to-two in the second quarter.
But Melbourne would eventually pull away by the end of three quarters, kicking six goals to the Cats’ five, before a strong five-goal finish in the final quarter sealed an excellent win.
Jeff Garlett led the scoring for the Demons with four goals, while Bernie Vince registered 38 disposals.
Steven Motlop was best on field for the Cats with 27 disposals, three marks and two goals.
Enright was solid rather than spectacular in his 300th match, ending with 18 disposals.
He was carried shoulder-high from the field at the end of the game by longtime teammates Andrew Mackie and Tom Lonergan.
Geelong’s only other 300-gamers, John Newman and Ian Nankervis – who were both in attendance – also lost their major milestone games.
