Kennedy kicks 10 as Eagles smash Carlton
Josh Kennedy has scored a magnificent 10 goals to fire the West Coast Eagles to a thumping 69-point win over Carlton at Subiaco Oval.
Kennedy was unstoppable against a listless Carlton defence, helping the Eagles to a 20.11 (131) to 9.8 (62) triumph.
Carlton put up a good fight in the first quarter, leading the hosts by two majors at the first change.
But the Blues ran out of steam very quickly and were blanked entirely in the second period as the Eagles flipped the deficit to a 13-point lead.
From there, West Coast accelerated to a 46-point lead thanks to a seven-goal third quarter, before wrapping things up with six six-pointers in the deciding stanza, while Carlton kicked just two goals.
Kennedy’s 10 goals found solid support from Mark LeCras (four majors), while Matt Priddis chipped in with 31 possessions.
For Carlton, Levi Casboult booted two goals and Bryce Gibbs both registered 26 disposals.
More to come.
