Manly will call Brookvale Oval home again during the 2016 NRL season after the Sea Eagles and Warringah Council came to an agreement on the lease of the famous ground.

The two parties had squabbled over the pre-season over the terms of the lease, especially in relation to money. However the impasse was overcome on Monday to the delight of both the Council and the Sea Eagles.

The lease agreement will be considered by Warringah Council on Tuesday night, when it is expected to be rubber stamped.

Manly boss Joe Kelly welcomed the outcome as a win for the club’s fans.

“It was absolutely essential that we had immediate certainty for our members, sponsors, and army of fans prior to the looming kick-off of the 2016 NRL season against the Bulldogs on Friday 4 March,” Kelly said.

“We never contemplated going away from Brookvale Oval after 70 years at the Fortress. We are now hopeful that Councillors will accept this proposal tomorrow evening.”

Warringah Mayor Michael Regan was also pleased with the agreement.

“I couldn’t be happier. This is a win, win, win – for rate payers, fans and the mighty Sea Eagles,” he said.
