The Western Sydney Wanderers have snatched a 1-1 draw against the Melbourne Victory to reclaim top spot on the A-League ladder by virtue of goal difference.

Besart Berisha opened the scoring for the Victory in the 16th minute, and for much of the game it looked like it would stay that way at Docklands on Saturday night.

But Brendon Santalab poached the equaliser in the 89th minute, triggering relentless pressing from the Wanderers as they looked to nab all three points.

A fracas in the box with the Wanderers pressing saw Alberto Aguilar given his marching orders by the referee, with the game finishing at a frantic pace as Jaushua Sotirio’s chipped finish was dramatically saved by Danny Vukovic.
