Nick Kyrgios furious at tiny shorts

Nick Kyrgios may have beaten Pablo Cuevas in straight sets on Wednesday evening, but his wardrobe was a more complicated affair.

A pair of too-short Nike shorts were the culprit, with Kyrgios clearly frustrated from the outset at not being able to fit an extra tennis ball in there.

At one point in the first set, Kyrgios yelled “I’m fuming!” at his player’s box and “Never again!”

The crowd only learned that the shorts were the problem when Kyrgios disappeared backstage to change into a larger black pair late in the second set.

After the match, Kyrgios spoke to media about the small issue.

“Mate, it was an absolute circus,” he said.

“I’m not going to talk too much about it, but it was just a massive mix up and that’s just part of the challenges you face.”

Kyrgios said he was hopefully going to get “the right ones” for his third-round match.

Viewers took to social media to share their two cents on short-changing, with many Twitter users wishing the commentators would concentrate more on the game.

Kyrgios also had his fuse lit by a lax linesman, who mis-called a number of balls and was overruled by the chair umpire twice.

The young gun, who represents Australia’s greatest hope at the Open, has been under the microscope for his on-court behaviour since delivering a sex-related sledge to Stan Wawrinka in 2015.
