Donna Vekic has hit out at the ATP after they did not suspend Nick Kyrgios for his crude on-court sledge to Stanislas Wawrinka.

Kyrgios taunted Wawrinka during a Montreal Masters clash in a comment that referred to fellow young Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis.

The tennis bad boy told his Swiss opponent: “Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend” and was initially fined $US10,000 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).

A further fine of $US25,000 and a 28-day ban followed, but both were suspended and will only come into effect if Kyrgios transgresses in the next six months.

Vekic told the New York Post: “He didn’t get suspended.

“It’s ridiculous. No more comment on this.”

Kyrgios, drawn to meet third seed Andy Murray in the first round of the US Open, was understandably keen to draw a line under the saga.

“It’s over now,” he said.

“Everyone’s moved on from it and I’m playing really good tennis.

“It’s part of the journey. I don’t think anyone was perfect when they were 20.

“It wasn’t the best thing, but I learned from that and keep maturing every day.”
