The slipshod nature of the Essendon supplements program has been laid bare in a series of reports in News Corp papers.

The Herald Sun has published the 1294-page transcript of the AFL’s anti-doping tribunal hearings.

Among the revelations are that players suffered painful side effects from the injections, and the reports painted a picture of a haphazard injection regime under sports scientist Stephen Dank.

“Dank’s office was disorganised. His office was a mess,” one player said.

Another unnamed player described the program as “pretty random”.

“There was no schedule,” he said.

“(I) thought it was an amino acid. Found Dank unreliable, asking me, ‘have you had an injection today?’ (That was) in the afternoon. I had already had one that morning.”

Another said: “He (Dank) would say ‘blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, it helps with recovery’.”

One player said the program was painful, describing a particular injection as “like concrete going into your arse”.

The reports also said that Essendon coach James Hird barely gets a mention in the 1294-page document.
