A London taxi driver has captured the terrifying moment he almost ran over a cyclist that was trying to avoid being hit by a car door.

The video shows the cyclist riding along a London road in the bike lane, when a driver of a parked car opens their door without warning.

He is hit unaware and knocked into the path of the oncoming taxi but luckily, the taxi driver had his eyes on the road and managed to stop just in time to avoid running him over completely.

The cyclist is knocked from his bike and partially lodged underneath the taxi wincing in obvious pain, however he reportedly escaped with only cuts and bruises.

The person who opened the door has offered to pay the cyclist for any damages incurred.

Twitter user and taxi driver, @AllLondonBoy, posted the dramatic video which has been retweeted over 150 times.

The footage was captured thanks to a dash cam on the taxi.
