Mid-match coffee kick starts Serena Williams

Williams said she struggling in her game against Italy’s Flavia Pennetta in Perth’s Hopman Cup, with jet lag taking its toll.

“I am a coffee drinker and I didn’t have mine this morning and I was just feeling it, so I had to get some coffee in me,” Williams said after winning the game.
“I just asked them to get me a shot of espresso. I asked them if it was legal, because I’ve never done it before.”
“But I needed to wake up – it’s just the jetlag. It gets you all the time.”
The world number one went down in the first set in 19 minutes, but made a complete turnaround after the caffeine fix, winning the match in three sets, 0-6 6-3 6-0.
