The whistleblower who accused Qatar of corruption after their successful bid for the 2022 World Cup says she is paying the price for speaking out.

Phaedra Al-Majid, a former employee of the Qatar 2022 bid, told BBC Sport she had been exposed to a world of “fear, paranoia and threats”.

• Rotten to the core: why did we deal with FIFA?

“I will always look over my shoulder for the rest of my life,” Ms Al-Majid said.

While the allegations first came to light in 2011, Ms Al-Majid later signed an affidavit saying her accusations were false, something she now claims was done under coercion.

The whistleblower said speaking out had cost her her security and she been warned by the FBI of threats against her.

A two-year FIFA investigation cleared Qatar of any wrongdoing, but English Football Association chairman Greg Dyke labelled the report “a joke”.
