Western Australia secured a spot in next week’s domestic one-day cup finals after a four-wicket win on Friday over last-placed South Australia at Bankstown Oval in Sydney.

Set a modest target of 216 to win, WA reached the target with 13 balls to spare.

The Warriors had been wobbling at 3-92 but a 76-run partnership between Sam Whiteman and Adam Voges virtually ended the Redbacks’ hopes.

Voges top-scored for Western Australia with 55, while there were also important contributions from Marcus Harris (30), Michael Klinger (37) and Whiteman (31).

However, it was bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile who played the starring role for WA collecting 4-32 off his 10 overs, including three top-order batsmen.

Nathan Rimmington also bowled economically to finish with 2-43, while Joel Paris and Voges claimed one each among the eight wickets to fall.

South Australia struggled to maintain a decent scoring rate in cloudy and windy conditions, losing wickets at regular intervals throughout their innings.

Callum Ferguson saved the Redbacks from disaster, scoring a well-compiled 82 at a run a ball, and sharing a 76-partnership with Alex Ross (37).
