Burgess ‘doesn’t remember much’ of NRL grand final

South Sydney forward Sam Burgess has revealed he doesn’t remember much of last weekend’s NRL Grand Final after a shocking head injury, sparking fears of concussion.

Burgess told radio station 2KY he was dazed during the match against the Bulldogs which he played almost entirely with a fractured cheekbone and eye socket.

“I was a bit dazed during the game, I don’t remember too much of it,” Burgess said.

The Rabbitohs player underwent a six-hour surgery and had four metal plates inserted into his face after a massive collision with the Bulldogs’ James Graham.

There are mixed reports over whether the NRL will launch an investigation into why Burgess was able to play out the game despite having a possible concussion.

The revelations come as the game’s peak body attempts to crackdown on clubs using concussed players, with fines of up to $20,000 being issued throughout the year.
