Mundine to fight former champ Clottey
Anthony Mundine will fight former IBF welterweight world champion Joshua Clottey on April 2 at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.
Mundine views the bout with the 36-year-old Clottey (37-4, 22 KOs) as his next stepping stone to a world title.
Clottey’s best wins were against two other former world champions Zab Judah and Diego Corrales.
All of the Ghanaian’s four loses were to world champions.
Mundine says he has lost money in recent promotions and may be out of pocket for his next couple before he lands the big money fights against the sport’s bigger names.
The Mundine bout will be just Clottey’s third in the four years since his March 2010 defeat to Manny Pacquiao.
