A great day for readers on Saturday with our two selections as Ascot both running great races. Hussy By Choice won easily at a great each way quote with upwards of $6 available throughout betting. Our selection in the two year old race ran on strongly for second; however the race was ruined by scratchings on race morning.

Today we bring you some information on the newly published Caulfield jump outs along with some early pre-post bets for the Australian Guineas. We also preview one race at Warwick Farm.

Warwick Farm Race 2 — 3YO Fillies Set Weights Maiden (1400)

A maiden for the 3YO fillies over 1400m and a massive field engaged. We have blackbooker 3 CANOSSA engaged here and she looks to a good chance. The pace only looks moderate from what we have seen, with no natural leaders engaged.

3 CANOSSA has had three career starts for Chris Waller and she has been very consistent without breaking through. She looks to have come back in super order running a very nice trial at Rosehill on the 21st and no doubt she can perform well first up here. Barrier 1 should see her get into a lovely position and expecting a forward showing if breaks go her way. With the likely lack of speed on, really hoping Jim Cassidy doesn’t allow her to get too far back from the inside.

2 BALMORAL BABY makes her debut here for Ron Quinton after five trials leading in. She has had the 2 recent trials this year and her latest was an impressive victory. That should see her be competitive in a race of this nature but it does look an open affair. Barrier 14 looks a concern but her chances are likely to increase if she pushes forward and can find a nice position without having to do a lot of work.

The well named 13 SHINKAFEWMORE and 15 SUBTLE WINNER both come out of the same trial as our blackbooker, 2 BALMORAL BABY, who has unfortunately been scratched for this race. Going on what we saw in that trial, though, 2 BALMORAL BABY would have had the measure of the pair.

16 VANILLA PRINCESS and 4 ENTERTAINS are from top stables and both have been good in their limited careers to date. They both have to be respected. As does 5 I WROTE THE BOOK who was narrowly beaten last start at Gosford. Nash Rawiller jumps on board and it would be no surprise to see her go one better today. No knock on 1 ANGEL FACE either.

A big field and a very tricky, open affair but very confident 3 CANOSSA can be very competitive.

Caulfield Jump Outs

Not only does the publishing of field and colours for Caulfield jumpouts ease the horse racing industry closer to the 21^st century it also provides The Trial Files followers with an added edge that will increase our punting profitability. As this is the first week and we are learning more and more about jump outs, rider weights and trying to glean information on trainers’ shoeing techniques, we will be taking a conservative approach when it comes to previewing subsequent blackbookers. Over the coming weeks we will make a few excursions to Caulfield to watch these jumpouts and further educate ourselves as to the trickery that can affect a horse’s performance in these trials. Furthermore, given the lack of winning post and markings it is hard to accurately check the times printed for Caulfield jumpouts and we will endeavour to pintpoint markings that will help us better validate the times moving forward.

All in all we are excited about Caulfield taking this initiative and can only hope that other clubs follow suit and make some attempt to bring racing up to speed with 21^st century technologies and the demands of a modern punter.

An important thing to note about these jumpouts is there are a number of horses just out there for a trot around. We are going to play with the format of these reviews over the coming weeks and hopefully come up with a suitable product. Australian Guineas Preview — to be run March 1, 2014

The Trial Files have identified a couple of runners that look leading contenders for the Australian Guineas and most corporate bookmakers have a market on the race. The Guineas will be run over the mile at Flemington in five weeks’ time and both runners we’ve identified looked perfectly suited to the 1600m at headquarters.

PRINCE HARADA flopped out of the gates and was allowed to find his feet early but between the 600 and the 400M he pulled his way through the field and was up challenging Brilliant Bisc in the twinkling of an eye. These two drew away to fight out the heat but PRINCE HARADA had a panel on the Moody runner and he has come back in super order. Would be looking for a Cadbury Guineas market and taking any price north of 8/1 about the Vasil runner.

MONKSTONE went super in his heat. He ambled around outside of Shamal Wind and went equally as well as the winner. He was disappointing in the Exford Stakes at Flemington before going for a spell but it would appear we will see the best of him this time in. Keen to follow and another who might be worth a sprinkle in the Guineas when markets are up.

In early markets punters can take advantage of $9 about PRINCE HARADA and $41 about MONKSTONE and with both down to run in the Manfred Stakes this weekend these prices should shorten up on the back of strong first up runs.
