Trump bemoans ‘worst of all time’ magazine cover photo

US President Donald Trump has bemoaned an unflattering cover photo for Time magazine’s upcoming edition on his success in Gaza.

Landing back in Washington DC after inking the Gaza ceasefire agreement in Egypt, Trump fired off a social media rant about the picture after 1am (local time).

The close-up portrait is taken from below and looks straight up Trump’s nostrils. The angle juxtaposes a large chest against a small head and shortened forehead, with backlight shining through wisps of hair.

Time Magazine wrote a relatively good story about me, but the picture may be the Worst of All Time,” Trump complained on Truth Social.

“They ‘disappeared’ my hair, and then had something floating on top of my head that looked like a floating crown, but an extremely small one.

“Really weird! I never liked taking pictures from underneath angles, but this is a super bad picture, and deserves to be called out.

“What are they doing, and why?”

The story, headlined His Triumph, is written by Eric Cortelessa for the magazine’s November 10 edition.

Time posted the cover picture to social media with a link to an article by Cortelessa exploring “How the Trump administration sealed the Gaza ceasefire deal”.

“The deal may become a signature achievement of Trump’s second term, and it could mark a strategic turning point for the Middle East,” it said.

Trump has received broad praise for the breakthrough in the Middle East.

In a rare show of bipartisan support, former Democratic presidents Joe Biden and Bill Clinton applauded the Republican.

“I commend President Trump and his team for their work to get a renewed ceasefire deal over the finish line,” Biden, who was president until January, said on X.

With support from the US and global partners, the Middle East was now “on a path to peace”, he said.

Biden also highlighted his own administration’s role in the negotiations, saying it had “worked relentlessly to bring hostages home, get relief to Palestinian civilians, and end the war”, which started in October 2023 during his term.

Clinton echoed the sentiment, writing on X that “President Trump and his administration, Qatar, and other regional actors deserve great credit for keeping everyone engaged until the agreement was reached.”

Clinton urged Israel and Palestinian militant organisation Hamas, with US support, to “turn this fragile moment into lasting peace”, adding that he believed it was possible “if they do it together”.

Clinton, who was president from 1993 to 2001, has been a vocal critic of Trump, accusing him of pursuing policies driven by self-interest rather than the well-being of the American people.
