Two Australians and their relative found dead in a Philippines hotel room reportedly had their hands and feet tied and mouths taped.
The victims have been identified as David James Fisk, 57, his wife Lucita Barquin Cortez, 55, a Philippine-born Australian citizen, and Cortez’s daughter-in-law Mary Jane Cortez, 30, a Filipina.
Staff at The Lake Hotel in Tagaytay, south of Manila, discovered their bodies when they went to the room about 12.30pm on Wednesday to remind the trio to check out.
When they did not open the door, a male employee went in and found the victims face down and lifeless.
Philippine media report that their hands and shoeless feet were bound with electrical cord and their mouths were strapped with packing tape.

The Australian man’s throat was slit with a sharp object, Tagaytay police chief Lieutenant Colonel Charles Daven Capagcuan said.
The two women may have been suffocated using a pillow, he said.
Police said a hotel security guard had seen the male suspect at the resort’s gate entrance earlier that morning, and asked what he was doing there.
The suspect reportedly said he was checked into the victims’ room, and was seen with a hotel key card.
CCTV footage shows him leaving the room and walking down the hotel hallway. He was wearing a black jumper with the hood over his head, maroon shorts, sneakers and a backpack.
Police are working to identify the wanted man.

The Australian woman’s son, and husband of the third victim, said the couple was from Sydney. They went to Bali before stopping in the Philippines.
He said they had planned to return to Australia on Wednesday, the day they were found dead. He said he last spoke to his wife on Monday and contacted police when he could not reach her anymore.

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed it was providing consular assistance to the families of two Australians who died in the Philippines. But it did not reveal their identities.
“We send our condolences to the families at this difficult time,” a spokesperson said.
Tagaytay mayor Abraham Tolentino said he was shocked by the incident.
“We’re very sorry to our Australian friends,” he said.
“We will resolve this as soon as possible.”
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
