Baldwin ‘stinks’ on SNL, election is rigged: Trump

Donald Trump says actor Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of him on Saturday Night Live “stinks” and has accused the media of working to rig the election.

Earlier this month, the late night NBC comedy show kicked off its 42nd season with an extended sketch in which Baldwin made a highly anticipated debut as Mr Trump.

His turn as Mr Trump was widely praised on social media as “scary good” and the “Trumpiest Trump”.

But the latest episode, which saw Baldwin and fellow actor Kate McKinnon re-enact Mr Trump and Hillary Clinton’s second debate, left Mr Trump unimpressed.

The skit poked fun at Mrs Clinton’s awkward body language, “practiced” attempts to connect with members of the audience and penchant for catchphrases.

It also poked fun at Mr Trump’s constant pacing across the stage, his call for Mrs Clinton to go to jail, and recent misspeak at a rally in which he told supporters to vote on November 28, 20 days after election day.

On Twitter, Mr Trump described the show as a “hit job”.

But on social media, fans disagreed.

“The SNL opening skits in the debates are so awesome. Alec Baldwin is so on point,” tweeted @Chris_PoV.

Mr Trump and Mrs Clinton will go head-to-head one last time in Las Vegas on Thursday before the November 8 election.
