Hillary Clinton’s doctor has released a letter detailing the US Democratic presidential candidate is fit to lead the country, while Republican nominee Donald Trump will reveal his medical information in a TV interview on Thursday.

Mrs Clinton released new information about her health after mounting pressure for the campaign to release information about her medical status after she fell ill at a 9/11 memorial event on Sunday.

The former secretary of state’s personal physician Lisa Bardack said Mrs Clinton “continues to remain healthy and fit to serve as president of the United States”, in a two-page “summary update” on Mrs Clinton’s health.

Mrs Clinton was said to be “recovering well with antibiotics and rest” after being laid low by a case of “mild, non-contagious” pneumonia over the weekend.

The presidential candidate was seen stumbling as she tried to get into her vehicle at an event on the weekend because she was suffering from fatigue and a low-grade fever.

Dr Bardack said Mrs Clinton’s vital signs remained normal.

The doctor’s note also mentioned Mrs Clinton’s sinus infection early in the year.

In early September she was diagnosed with a respiratory tract infection, and later a CT scan revealed mild, non-contagious, bacterial pneumonia.

Dr Bardack said Mrs Clinton was given antibiotics, was recovering well and was in excellent mental condition and fit to serve as president.

Meanwhile, her opponent, Mr Trump, dealing with calls for transparency around his own medical records by scheduling an appearance on the Dr. Oz show.

Trump taped the episode in New York that will air on Thursday, in which he gave host Dr Mehmet Oz a summary of a physical exam conducted last week.

Trump’s campaign has said he will also release more medical information to the public.

The show released a short clip on Wednesday that did not include any medical information.
