Hillary Clinton has suffered a coughing fit during a Labor Day rally in Cleveland, Ohio, giving Donald Trump some fresh material and sparking a dedicated coughing hashtag on social media.

“Every time I think of Trump, I get allergic,” Ms Clinton managed to say in between coughs.

“Boy, we have 63 days to go.”

Ms Clinton has suffered coughing attacks before on the campaign trail, but this episode went on for around four minutes.

The crowd cheered her on, saying, “We love you Hillary!”
