Newspaper prints fake Trump front page

The Boston Globe US based-newspaper has warned of the “deeply troubling” future in store if Donald Trump wins the US presidency with a satirical front page.

‘Deportations to begin’ read the main headline on the fake newspaper, published on the Globe‘s online ‘ideas’ section on Sunday.

The front page also included stories such as ‘US soldiers refuse orders to kill ISIS families’ and ‘Bank glitch halts border wall work’.

While the stories were fictitious and set in the year 2017, many of them made use of actual Trump quotes, including the accusation that 75 per cent of journalists were liars, and are “absolute scum”.

For some lighter material, the paper also included stories about Mr Trump causing offence by naming his shar pei puppy after a Chinese delegate, and being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for patching up the traditional schism between Sunni and Shi’ite Muslims.

A note from the editor at the bottom of the page described why the team felt the need to make such a statement.

“This is Donald Trump’s America,” they wrote.

“What you read on this page is what might happen if the GOP frontrunner can put his ideas into practice, his words into action.

“Many Americans might find this vision appealing, but the Globe’s editorial board finds it deeply troubling.”

The page was also accompanied by a separate editorial imploring the GOP to “stop Trump”, and to look to someone other than his closes rival, Ted Cruz – who they called “equally extreme” – for Republican candidacy.

Unsurprisingly, Mr Trump dismissed the page as “totally dishonest” and “worthless”.
