Civilians killed in two attacks
Two cities have faced bloody attacks on Friday morning (AEST), killing and injuring innocent civilians.
A bomb attack killed six people, including three policemen, and injured at least 13 others near a road leading to the pyramids in the Cairo suburb of Giza, security sources said.
The bomb exploded as the police arrived in their vehicles in front of a building, where suspected militants were hiding, the sources said.
Thirteen people were wounded as a result of the attack.

The Interior Ministry issued a statement saying: “the bomb had been planted by Muslim Brotherhood militants and went off when security forces tried to raid the building”.
Islamist militants stepped up attacks on Egyptian soldiers and police since the army toppled president Mohammed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood in 2013 after mass protests against his rule.
Meanwhile, police said a suicide car bomber rammed the gates of a restaurant near a beach in Somalia’s capital of Mogadishu, before gunmen fought their way into the building in an attack claimed by the Islamic extremist group al-Shabab.
At least three people were reported killed in Friday’s attack.
Captain Mohamed Hussein said the assailants may have taken hostages inside the Liido Seafood restaurant, which was popular with Mogadishu’s elite and government officials.
“An unknown number of people were still trapped inside the restaurant,” he said.
In a broadcast on its online radio on Friday, Islamic extremist group al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack.
Witnesses said that gunmen shouted “Allahu akbar,” the Arabic phrase for “God is great,” and entered the restaurant from the direction of the beach.
“They randomly fired at the people sitting near the beach before entering the restaurant,” witness Ahmed Nur said.
Al-Shabab attacked Kenyan peacekeepers in southwestern Somalia last week.
The al-Qaeda-linked group claimed it had killed about 100 Kenyans and seized armaments and military vehicles.
The Kenyan government has given no death toll, saying broadly that there were some fatalities.
