A video filmed by the Paris supermarket siege gunmen has been released by the Islamic State after his death, with the 32-year-old explaining details of the Paris shooting.

In the 7-minute video posted on the Islamic State’s Twitter feed on Sunday night, Frenchman Amedy Coulibaly says the rampage conducted by he and two other gunmen in Paris last week was “justified”.

Coulibaly was shot dead by police in Paris on Saturday after holding up a Jewish supermarket and killing four hostages.

The video, titled ‘Soldier of the Caliphate’, shows the Senegalese-born Frenchman surrounded by weapons and pledging allegiance to the Islamic State.

“What we are doing is completely legitimate, given what they are doing,” Coulibaly says.

“If you attack the Caliphate and the Islamic State, you will be attacked,” he says.

The gunman explains how he conducted the Paris shootings along with Charlie Hebdo gunmen Said and Cherif Kouachi.

“The brothers of our team were split into two groups … I went out a bit against the police,” he said.

“If we did things a bit together and a bit separately it was to have more impact.”

“We manage to synchronise to go out at the same time so we don’t cause each other any problems as we are sought of over the same affair.”

Authorities are still searching for Coulibaly’s wife, Hayat Boumeddiene, who is described as ‘armed and dangerous’ and is believed to have crossed the Turkish border into Syria.
