Three dead, including gunman, after Texas shooting

A lone gunman has died of self-inflicted wound after killing two people and injuring several others during a shooting spree at Fort Hood military base in Texas, according to NBC News.
The lone gunman, believed to be 34-year-old solider Ivan Lopez, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, say reports from the scene. Further fatalities are unclear, although reports indicate at least eight people were injured.
Mashable has reported that President Obama, who was informed about the incident upon arrival into Chicago, has issued a statement saying “We’re following it closely. The situation is fluid right now … I want to just assure all of us we are going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened. We’re heartbroken something like this might have happened again.”
Fort Hood’s official twitter account instructed personnel to take shelter as the unnamed gunman entered the grounds of the base on Wednesday afternoon.
All personnel on post are asked to shelter in place.

This is the second time a shooting has taken place at Fort Hood. In 2009, an army psychiatrist killed 13 people in the worst attack to ever have taken place on a military base.
