Perth ranks high on list of world’s best locations to watch the sunset
If there’s one thing Australia’s west has on the east, it’s the sunsets – and now Perth has been crowned the ninth-best spot in the world to snap the perfect picture.
Titan Travel has put together a Top 20 list of the best places around the world to catch the sunset, based on social media posts.
In the top 10, Perth came in ninth place, with over 42,000 Instagram posts.
“Famous for the pink, orange and purple hues that light up its skies, Perth offers up some of the best sunset views in the world,” Titan Travel said in a press release.
Obviously, Western Australia does have an edge, given that the sun set in the west, usually making for an early evening trip to the beach simply delightful.
Titan Travel also analysed TikTok posts and Perth came in at number 10 on that list.
Sunset in Perth is apparently the best in Australia.
Top 10 best sunset locations in the world
Taking out the top spot based on Instagram post was Bali, in Indonesia.
There are over 180,000 Instagram posts of sunsets in Bali, according to the travel group.
“Packed full of idyllic beaches and natural wonders, Indonesia’s island of Bali can be crowned the most photogenic location to watch the sun go down with more than 182,000 Instagram posts,” Titan Travel said.
“The best locations to watch Bali’s sunsets are the beaches along its western shores, with views often featuring historic temples making the golden panoramas of the island’s setting sun even more memorable.”
However, several other locations from around the world also made the list.

However, a few other places in Australia were acknowledged in the top 20. Melbourne came in at number 11 on the list, while Uluru sits at number 15.
Titan Travel figured out the most Instagram-worthy sunset locations in the world.
The list is slightly different for TikTok views, however, many of the places on the Instagram top 10, remained.
For example, according to TikTok views, Santorini is the most popular sunset location.
“The Greek island of Santorini takes the top spot as the most viewed sunset spot on TikTok, with the popular holiday destination racking up 70.2 million views on the platform!” Titan Travel said.
“Home to picturesque whitewashed villages and volcanic beaches with spectacular views of the Aegean Sea, Santorini is a haven for tourists looking to experience its natural wonders.”
TikTok’s favourite sunset location is Santorini in Greece.

In terms of TikTok views, sunsets at Uluru got more views than Melbourne. Uluru came in at number 12, while Melbourne sat at number 19.
To figure out what spots made the list, Titan Travel found the total number of Instagram posts tagged #[location]sunset and the same methodology was used for TikTok, but views were looked at, instead of the number of videos.
