Labor and Liberal tied in Western Australia

Labor and Liberal are neck-and-neck in Western Australia despite Premier Colin Barnett’s facing record-low approval ratings.

Only 32 per cent of voters are satisfied with Mr Barnett’s job as premier, making him one of Australia’s most unpopular leaders, according to the latest Newspoll published in The Australian.

While the government has a higher primary vote than Labor, 41 per cent to 31 per cent, the parties are neck-and-neck on a two-party-preferred basis, tied at 50 per cent each.

Mr Barnett’s term as premier has been marred by the state losing its AAA credit rating, leading to the sale of public assets to slash debt, as well as the state’s controversial shark cull policy.
