Union to meet Western Power CEO over concerns on further job cuts
The union representing middle management workers at Western Power whose jobs are being cut will today meet the energy utility’s CEO Paul Italiano.
The Australian Services Union branch secretary, Wayne Wood, is seeking more information from Mr Italiano on the extent of further planned job cuts.
Western Power has confirmed it has already shed 150 staff, in mostly white collar positions, and Mr Italiano says further middle management jobs are likely to go.
But he says reports of up to 400 job cuts are not true.
Western Power has defended the redundancies, saying it is changing the way it operates to bring itself back into line with customer expectations.
