A teenager faces a string of charges after allegedly striking a woman with a stolen car while driving erratically through the Melbourne CBD.
The incident unfolded on Sunday morning, not far from where thousands were running the Melbourne Marathon.
Police allege a 16-year-old boy drover along tram tracks on Flinders Street and struck a 57-year-old woman about 10.45am.
The woman, who had been standing at the Elizabeth Street intersection, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The teen allegedly performed a U-turn outside Flinders Street Station, where police and protective services officers drew their firearms.
The vehicle continued along Flinders Lane, where it allegedly struck several parked cars, which were unoccupied.
The 16-year-old boy, from the Greater Dandenong area, was later arrested at Albert Park.
Police have confirmed the incident was not an act of terrorism or a targeted attack.
They allege the teen was driving a Ford Escape that had been stolen from a Cranbourne South business early on Sunday.
He was charged with a range of offences, including reckless conduct, driving in a dangerous manner and theft of a motor vehicle.
The 16-year-old was remanded to appear at a children’s court later on Monday.
