Fake quote lures tradie to suburban shooting ambush

Chilling footage has captured a brazen daylight attack in which a hooded gunman runs up to his victim and shoots him in plain sight in a suburban street.
The man was shot in the ankle after being lured to a home at Fawkner, in Melbourne’s north, under the pretence of providing a quote for a trades job.
In footage released on Monday – six months on from the incident – the victim arrives in Denys Street just after 9.30am on October 3.
Another man exits a white 2018 Mercedes Benz GLC and runs towards him, shooting him in the left ankle.
The bullet travelled straight through the man’s ankle before exiting and hitting his right foot.
Neighbours rushed to his aid before emergency services arrived and took the injured man to hospital with serious injuries. He is still being treated.
The footage shows the shooter running back to the waiting car, which flees the scene.
The vehicle, bearing cloned plates 1NB7FC, has not been found.

Investigators believe the address was chosen randomly and the incident was not connected to anyone living on that street.
The victim, who is also known to police, has told investigators he doesn’t know why he was shot or who would organise the shooting.
Police confirmed the victim knew deceased gangland figure Sam “the Punisher” Abdulrahim, but said detectives had been unable to find links between the October 3 shooting and their association.
Abdulrahim, a former boxer, was gunned down in a car park in Preston in another daylight shooting in January.
Detective Inspector Adam Tilley said police believed the Fawkner incident was a “planned and targeted attack.”
“It would have been incredibly frightening for those on the street who were simply going about their daily lives at 9.30 on a Wednesday morning,” he said on Monday.
“We have a significant investigation into the incident underway and are keen to speak to anyone who has information about the shooting.
“This had the potential to impact innocent parties and we will do absolutely everything in our power to bring those involved before the court.”
Witnesses gave a description of the gunman, who is believed to be about 182 centimetres tall, with a slim build, dark hair and brown eyes.
Abdulrahim, also a former bikie, was killed in front of his partner at Quest Hotel in Preston on January 28.
The 32-year-old had previously survived numerous attempts on his life.
He was believed to have returned to Melbourne from overseas in the week before his death.
His killers remain on the run.
