One dead, child hurt after truck crashes into preschool

One person has died and a child has been injured after a truck crashed into a preschool north-west of Melbourne.
Victoria Police said the incident happened about 2.20pm on Main Road, Riddells Creek, when the truck crashed into the kindergarten’s playground.
The adult, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
Emergency Services are currently in Riddells Creek following a collision.

“A child was injured and has been taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” Victoria Police posted on X.
“The driver of the truck has also been taken to hospital for observation.”
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said “our priority right now is our patients and we do not have confirmed information from the scene at this early stage”.
Several fire trucks are also on the scene.
Riddells Creek is on the southern foothills of the Macedon Ranges, about 60 kilometres north-west of Melbourne.
Monday’s tragedy comes less than a fortnight after an 11-year-old boy died when a parent’s car ploughed through the fence of his primary school in Melbourne’s east.
Jack Davey died and four other children were injured in the incident at Auburn South Primary School in late October.
There was a private funeral for Jack on Sunday.
