Five children injured, one critical, when car ploughs into school

One child has suffered critical injuries and four others have been hurt after a car careened through the fence of a Melbourne primary school on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to Auburn South Primary School in Tooronga Road, Hawthorn East, on Tuesday afternoon, after reports of a collision.
There are reports five children were injured after being struck while sitting on a park bench.
All five were taken to hospital, one with critical injuries.
It is believe the female driver of the car suffered a medical incident. She has since been arrested and is being interviewed by police.
Photos circulating online show a white car with a battered front bumper at a standstill in the school grounds.
Emergency services are on scene at a collision in Hawthorn East.
It’s believed a vehicle was traveling along Burgess Street when it left the road and crashed through a school fence just after 2.30pm.
The female driver of the vehicle has been arrested and will be interviewed.

Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police said emergency services were on the scene and attending to patients.
“Our priority right now is our patients,” an ambulance spokesperson said.
“We will provide information when it becomes available.”
Local business owner Guy rushed to the school in the minutes after the incident.
“There were some kids that are very, very frightened, not themselves,” he told ABC Radio Melbourne.
Nearby streets were closed in the aftermath as police set up roadblocks.
The Education Department spokesperson said the incident would affect school pick-up for the primary school and the nearby Auburn High School.
