One snorkeller has died and another is in hospital after getting into trouble in waters off Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.

The pair were in the water near Portsea just after 8pm on Sunday when emergency services were called.

One man died at the scene while another was taken to hospital for observation.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

An investigation has been launched.
