Second man charged with supplying gun used in Brighton siege
A second man has been charged with supplying the gun used by Yacqub Khayre during a deadly siege in Melbourne a week ago.
Khayre shot dead a man, held a woman hostage and wounded three police officers before being killed by police in Brighton last Monday.
A 25-year-old Gladstone Park man has been charged by counter-terrorism police with offences including possessing ammunition without a licence, being an unlicensed dealer and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
He was remanded in custody to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Early on Friday, about 150 officers from the Special Operations Group and Australian Federal Police (AFP) searched three homes in Gladstone Park, Ascot Vale and Glenroy.
Another man, Kane Dalrymple, 31, from Ascot Vale, was arrested and charged with firearms-related offences following that counter-terrorism operation.
Dalrymple appeared in court on Saturday, accused of using coded text messages to deal firearms connected to Monday’s deadly siege.
