A motorcyclist has been killed after colliding with a truck on Melbourne’s West Gate Freeway.
The collision shortly before 8am sparked traffic chaos across Melbourne, with all inbound lanes of the West Gate Freeway closed and diversions put in place.
Keith Weegberg, from VicRoads, said he expected police would be at the scene for “some hours”.
“Just looking at the scene, I would suspect it would be some hours at this stage.”

“Details are sketchy at this stage, but a truck versus a motorbike.”
A police spokesperson said the motorcyclist, who has not been identified, died at the scene.
VicRoads said a truck has also rolled over on Dynon Road, causing extensive delays for people travelling from Melbourne’s west.
“The best advice we can give people is to be patient and expect some long delays,” he said.

“The West Gate Freeway is closed inbound at Williamstown Road and all traffic is being diverted.
“Motorists should [be doing] … anything but trying to get to the city on the West Gate Freeway.”
