A woman has been arrested over an alleged assault on former Victorian emergency services minister Jane Garrett.
Police said the incident took place in Carlton, on Drummond Street near the intersection of Elgin Street, just after 4pm on Monday.
It is understood Ms Garrett was walking home at the time and was assaulted by the woman.
She reportedly tried to push Ms Garrett through a window before fleeing the scene.
Ms Garrett sustained minor injuries.
A 52-year-old woman was arrested a short time later and then taken to hospital for assessment.
No charges have been laid.
Earlier in the day someone also reportedly tired to smash a window at Ms Garrett’s Brunswick office. Her staff reported the incident to parliament.
Police said they could not comment on whether the two women were known to each other.
Ms Garrett recently resigned from the Victorian Cabinet in a row over a Country Fire Authority (CFA) enterprise bargaining agreement.
