Woman, child dead in balcony fall
The death of a 31-year-old woman and four-month-old baby at an apartment building in Melbourne’s CBD is being treated as a murder–suicide, police say.
The bodies of the woman and the boy were found inside City Point Apartments on the corner of Bourke and Spencer streets about 10:30am.
Police said they were investigating whether the woman jumped from a six-storey height.

The woman and boy have not been identified, but police believed she was a resident of the building.
A large group of police could be seen outside the building after the incident.
Family and friends have gathered at the building.
Detectives were seen canvassing people in the area for information, and examined a balcony and a laneway.
They also spoke to the operator of a cafe at the bottom of the building.
Part of Bourke Street earlier blocked off because of the incident has been reopened.
A report will be prepared by detectives for the coroner.
