A man charged with the murder of Melbourne mother Kylie Blackwood, whose daughters found her body when they came home from school three years ago, has faced court.

Scott Alan Murdoch, 38, charged with one count of murder, last night appeared at an out of sessions hearing at Victoria Police’s Spencer St headquarters.

The arrest follows the release of CCTV footage of a suspicious car seen just metres from 42-year-old Ms Blackwood’s Pakenham home the day she was murdered.

Murdoch was arrested in Rowville in Melbourne’s southeast.

Murdoch was asked by the bail justice if he understood why he was at the hearing.

He replied, “Let’s get this over with”.

Asked if he had any concerns in custody, he said, “nup”.

Ms Blackwood was found bleeding to death by her 11-year-old twin daughters in their home in Pakenham when they returned from school on August 1, 2013.

It seemed to be a burglary gone wrong.

It’s believed attempts to withdraw money from Ms Blackwood’s bankcard were made at the local bank on the same day she died, but footage of the ATM was lost before detectives learned of its existence.

Murdoch was charged with Ms Blackwood’s murder on Friday, 24 hours after police announced they were closing in on the killer and released CCTV footage of a white Nissan Tiida seen in the area before and after her death.

Investigators believed there was a link between the car they were looking for and a man seen acting suspiciously in the area on the same day of Ms Blackwood’s murder.

Murdoch was been remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
