Food poisoning outbreak after five-star high tea
Around 34 people are ill after a salmonella outbreak at one of Melbourne’s most exclusive five-star hotels.
The Department of Health is probing the hotel after a series of illnesses have been linked to high teas at the Langham Hotel on Melbourne’s Southbank.

News Corp says 66 people who attended the high teas on July 11 and 12 have been tracked down by the Department of Health.
Of those, 34 cases of salmonella poisoning have been identified so far, with six of those serious enough to require hospital treatment.
The department confirmed the hospitalisations, but gave no information on the patients’ conditions.
The hotel is co-operating with investigators and is contacting guests directly.
Langham managing director Ben Sington said it was hotel policy to freeze samples of food served to guests.
