Melbourne’s CBD has been reopened after a suspicious green bag was declared safe by bomb squad.
Part of Flinders Street, near the intersection of Swanston and Flinders Streets, was blocked off and evacuated so police could investigate the discovery of a suspicious package.
Police blocked off Flinders Street between Swanston and Elizabeth Streets, including the tram stop. All are now open.
“Police are conducting safety checks in Flinders St between Swanston St and Degraves St. Road blocks in place. We’ll keep you updated,” Victoria Police tweeted around 2.30pm on Friday.
Trains at the nearby Flinders Street Station were not affected.
